잉글랜드의 싱어송라이터 Sam Smith는 Disclosure의 'Latch'에 피처링으로 참여한 것을 시작으로 음악계에 발을 들였고, 이후 피처링을 맡은 Naughty Boy의 'La La La'가 26개국 차트에서 1위를 하며 이름을 알리기 시작했다. 하지만 본격적으로 유명해진 것은 그의 첫 정규앨범 세 번째 싱글 'Stay With Me'가 대박을 터트리면서부터였다. 역주행을 거듭해 빌보드 싱글 차트 2위까지 기록하며 그는 일약 스타덤에 올라섰다.
